“Journey to a remote, hostile planet with a group of marooned passengers who learn that escaped convict Riddick isn’t the only thing they have to fear in Pitch Black. Then, see him battle ruthless soldiers of fortune and vicious creatures in renowned animator Peter Chung’s The Chronicles of Riddick: Dark Fury. And finally, Riddick finds himself humanity’s unlikely champion in the special effects-fueled The Chronicles of Riddick. Join Riddick in three times the action, three times the adrenaline and three times the adventure as the Riddick Trilogy makes complete one of the greatest sci-fi epics of all time!”
This is the summary of the three movies included in The Chronicles of Riddick found on the back of the movie case. Set on a mysterious and dangerous planet, the first movie, Pitch Black, sends the characters on an action packed, thrilling adventure to save their lives. After a horrible mishap in which their ship crashes on an unknown planet, the adventurers and their captive convict, Riddick, set out to find water or any life forms, but only find an abandoned mining colony. As time passes, the adventurers find themselves on a day when a solar eclipse begins that will last for many days, during which time strange, bloodthirsty creatures come out of hiding and the passengers must put their lives in the hands of Riddick, the only one who can see in the pitch black, and run for their lives. This action movie is exciting, anticipating, and can even be a little bit scary, so it is not ideal for the faint of heart.
The Chronicles of Riddick, the second in the trilogy, is set years after the first, on planet Optimus Prime. Riddick has a bounty on his head and finds himself being chased by Mercs, one known as Toombs, and Necromongers, the darkest kind of monster, are attacking the universe. He is shoved into a position to save it, even though it’s not his fight, and he must go through an exciting and thrilling quest as “humanity’s unlikely champion.” The Chronicles of Riddick is just as intriguing as Pitch Black and a wonderful action lover’s adventure.

Dark Fury is set in between the first and second movie and is a completely CG movie. It seems to be more like a cartoon than an actual movie and it is only 35 minutes long, but it explains what happens after the survivors leave the planet in Pitch Black and sets up the storyline for The Chronicles of Riddick. Riddick’s ship is pulled into another, belonging to a villainous woman, and he must battle atrocious creatures and “ruthless soldiers” to escape again. Although computer animated, this movie is interesting, exciting and contains much action, yet it doesn’t have as much excitement as the others and isn’t quite as exhilarating.

These three movies were much enjoyed by my family and me, because we delight in watching action movies that aren’t too violent and found these to be quite fitting, although, as I stated before, these movies aren’t for the faint-hearted, especially the first, because they can be intimidating and shocking at times. I would not recommend showing them to small children, but adventure loving teenagers and adults would most definitely enjoy these thrilling movies that keep you fixed on the edge of your seat, biting your nails.
Many people ask the question, “What is good music?” A teacher may be wondering if a certain song is good to let the class listen to, or a parent may be selecting appropriate music for their child’s party. Everyday someone is faced with the dilemma of differentiating between good or bad music. So, what is good music?
The first step in rejoining this question is to ascertain what type of music you prefer to listen to. Do you fancy rock, metal, heavy metal, or do you succumb to country or classical? This can be an arduous question to answer but it needs to be made certain before you can continue on. Answering this question will allow you to understand what music you think is congenial. If you prefer to listen to classical music or other types of mellow music, you wouldn’t appreciate rock music because of all the noise, and if you like rock music, then you wouldn’t adore listening to classical music because it’s not exciting enough. You must decide what style you like best.
Next, you will need to understand what situation you will be in while listening to the music. Are you planning to play the music at a dance, or do you just want to auscult to the music while you’re doing something else like finishing homework or cooking dinner? This will help you to pick music that will enhance what you are doing, and give a certain mood to the atmosphere of what’s going on. If you are picking music for a dance, you will want something that has a good dance beat to it, yet you might not want something too romantic depending on the audience. Classical or mellow music would be an excellent choice, if you are doing yoga or trying to relax after a long and stressful day. You wouldn’t want to listen to rock or metal music then.
After answering these two questions, you will probably have a good idea what music is affable or unpleasant, but that is only for certain situations. As in my example in the first paragraph, you may be trying to decide what music is appropriate. Music that is allowed at school can’t have any swearing and has to be about wholesome things, which would make that type of music bad, but some people think that type of music is okay so is it good or bad? Some people listen to classical music, while others think it’s boring and annoying; is it good or bad? Parents may want their kids to listen to one type of music but behind their backs the kids listen to something else, so which type is good and which is bad? Some religions deem swearing in music as unholy while others don’t care, so is it good, or do some people have twisted ideas? I could go on and on so I’ll leave the question to you to answer; what is good music?
Hook is an adventurous TriStar Pictures movie and stars Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman as grown-up Peter Pan and the nefarious Captain Hook. After a banquet for Wendy on a stormy night, Peter and his wife come home to find that their children have been kidnapped by the infamous Captain Hook. Peter sets off to Never Land to rescue his son and daughter and throughout the journey he must rediscover the imagination and magic that he once had. Little does he know that Hook has secret plans to start a war with the Lost Boys. This action packed and entertaining motion picture is for all ages.
I thought that Peter Pan had ended and there was nothing else to do but this enticing movie adds a whole new adventure to the end of that story. It continues on from a wonderful children’s story and adds an interesting twist. Who would have thought that Peter would ever leave Never Land to live in the real world where he would grow up? I certainly didn’t! This story explains how Peter would go to visit Wendy and every time she was older. Then one time Wendy’s grand-daughter is there and Peter decides that he would rather stay and live with her than watch her grow old like he did Wendy. I thought that was a prodigious addition to the old Peter Pan story. I relished how invigorating the storyline was and it held my attention throughout. I also enjoyed how many of the ideas from the original Peter Pan were not altered in any way. The Lost Boys did have a new hideout but the original one was still present, although destroyed. In many instances the settings in movies are changed and that also alters the mood of the story.
Throughout the movie Peter is trying to rediscover his old abilities because he has forgotten the past. His attempts can be quite comical and the Lost Boys try to help by exercising him to death. Besides being adventurous and comical the movie depicts the love of families and the risks they would take for each other. I enjoyed the adventure that Peter Pan must take to rescue his beloved children and once again save the day. This is a wonderful family film and should be adored by all the family members. Be it youngsters or adults, this fantastic movie is fit for all ages and I am positive that others will enjoy it just as much as me.

Over the years TV cartoons have modified. As Disney was refashioned and new technology was invented to make more advanced movies, the cartoons evolved as well except instead of becoming more advanced and exciting like the movies they did just the opposite. In my opinion they diminished from interesting, enjoyable and entertaining to pointless. What happened to the Loony Tunes? On some channels, they may still show some agreeable cartoons such as Scooby-Doo, and sometimes they have some Loony Tunes but not the best.
When our parents were kids, Loony Tunes were popular cartoons on the TV. Nowadays those cartoons can no longer be found on the TV channels. Instead, they contain less interesting cartoons such as SpongeBob. I believe this cartoon to be pointless and disappointing. I’m not excited to watch a talking sponge wander around under the sea. He lives in the sea so I assume he is supposed to be a sea sponge but he appears to be a cleaning sponge to me. And why does he wear pants? I know it is just a cartoon but it isn’t realistic enough to be of interest to me. Even Scooby-Doo cartoons are changed from the way they used to be. New characters were added to the show and another show was created with all the characters as kids. As the series is drawn out, it loses its touch and becomes less fascinating. With all the new technology I would think that people would make cartoons with realistic characters but instead they make them look more pathetic. It seems that people don’t concentrate as much on the cartoons as they used to. Movies become increasingly popular and attract all the attention so nothing is left for the cartoons, or so it would seem. The cartoons of old were exciting and amusing to watch, especially the Loony Tunes. Impossible and hilarious stunts were performed throughout the whole cartoon keeping you laughing continuously. All the animals were animated, of course, but they seemed less cartoonish than the characters from cartoons today. I feel a bit downbeat that many of the decent cartoons from only a generation ago can no longer be enjoyed by children looking for entertainment on the television.
“For centuries, mystical creatures of all description were gathered to a hidden refuge called Fablehaven to prevent their extinction. The sanctuary survives as one of the last strongholds of true magic in a cynical world. Enchanting? Absolutely. Exciting? You bet. Safe? Well, actually, quite the opposite . . .” (Brandon Mull book cover)
This is a piece of the summary of the Fablehaven book printed on the inside flap. Kendra and her brother, Seth, travel to visit their grandfather for the summer, completely oblivious to the fact that he is the current caretaker of a secret preserve that is home to many magical creatures. Some creatures are fascinating, while all are extremely dangerous. A treaty, made long ago, keeps certain rules and boundaries to protect both the caretaker and the magical creatures. When Seth breaks the rules, a dangerous and exciting journey begins for all humans on the preserve. The question is, will they be able to save Fablehaven and themselves before it’s too late? Join Kendra and Seth on their journey to find the answer.
I enjoyed this amazing story and all its fascinating creatures because it is very captivating. There’s plenty of action and adventure that keeps you on the edge of your seat and anticipating the next move! I was able to connect well with the characters in the novel because they have personalities similar to mine and Kendra is close to my age. The descriptions and word usage lured me in and I felt like I was in the story experiencing everything with Kendra, Seth and their grandfather. I’m amazed at how life like the story seems. Everything seems so real that I can almost believe in the fairies and naiads. Brandon Mull uses real life animals to describe what the creatures look like to someone who is indifferent to their existence. I encourage others to read and enjoy this novel, for what good is a book that isn’t read? I’m almost positive that the readers of this novel will enjoy it also!
